We took on the project of restoring this classical guitar made by Antonio Raya Pardo.
Antonio Raya Pardo (1950 – 1922) was one of the most famous guitar makers from Granada. Hebuilt handmade classical and flamenco guitars using traditional methods.
This guitar sound is powerful, responsive. It is very light weight and easy to play like the instruments of the Granada school, and has good clarity, a beautiful tone and projects extremely well.
This guitar was obtained in an unplayable status.
The soundboard was cracked on both sides of the fretboard and under the fretboard and had been pushed in. It has been repaired and braced for stability.
The rosette was damaged by whatever happened when the top was damaged. We reassembled the available pieces of the rosette and glued them back to the top around the sound hole.
There was a hairline crack in the back. It has been closed and repaired.
The bridge was damaged where the 1st string hole goes through the bridge. This was repaired and re-aligned.
The fretboard was cracked in the middle. It was removed, glued back together and repaired. New frets have been installed, leveled and crowned.
Some binding was coming detached. It has been re-attached.
The French polish finish was touched up and refreshed.
It has Cypress back and sides and a Cedar top. It now plays great and sounds wonderful. It comes with the guitar case.
